Instructions

1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans, lining bottoms with parchment paper.
2
Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
3
Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla, and beat until smooth.
4
Stir in hot coffee or water until batter is thin and well combined.
5
Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
6
Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
7
Beat butter and peanut butter together until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and cream to make a fluffy peanut butter frosting.
8
Level cake layers if needed, then spread peanut butter frosting between layers and over the top and sides of the cake.
9
Chop Reese's peanut butter cups and press some into the frosting on the sides, reserving some for topping.
10
Heat cream for ganache until just simmering, pour over chocolate chips, let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
11
Pour ganache over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides.
12
Decorate the top with remaining chopped Reese's peanut butter cups and slice to serve.
