Mummy Cookies
A Halloween riff on the classic American chocolate chip cookie, where a soft brown-butter-sugar base is baked plain, cooled, then wrapped in wavy piped white chocolate bandages with two dark chocolate eyes peeking through — playful, rich and genuinely cookie-first under the decoration.

Instructions
1
Cream the softened butter with the brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
2
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
3
Sift the flour, baking soda and salt together, then fold into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
4
Divide the dough into 2 portions, roll into balls, and flatten slightly on a lined baking sheet, spacing well apart.
5
Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 9-10 minutes until the edges are just set but the centres still look slightly underdone.
6
Cool the cookies fully on a wire rack before decorating, about 15 minutes.
7
Melt the white chocolate gently and spoon into a piping bag with a small hole snipped in the tip.
8
Pipe uneven wavy strips of white chocolate across each cookie to look like mummy bandages, leaving two gaps near the top.
9
Press two small chopped pieces of dark chocolate into the gaps as eyes before the white chocolate sets.
10
Let the white chocolate firm up at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.
